Adventurer's Guide

Great Ocean & Bartering

Last Edited on : Aug 12, 2026, 01:30 (UTC)

Adventurers can manage their ships for departure by interacting with a Wharf Manager.

- Manage Sailors: Manage your hired sailors and prepare them for departure.

- Load Cargo: Load items from the town Storage and your character’s Inventory onto the ship.

- Supply: Replenish the ship’s Food and Cannonballs.
- Remote Collection: Spend a certain amount of Silver to remotely collect your ship. The ship’s durability decreases by 10% upon remote collection. If sailors are aboard, their condition may deteriorate, causing them to become unable to board. All Barter Goods loaded onto the ship, excluding equipped items, will be destroyed. Regular Trade Goods may also be destroyed at a certain chance, as before. Other regular items will not receive any penalties.
- Ship equipment can be equipped from your Inventory near the ship without interacting with a Wharf Manager.
- Call Ship / Locate Ship: If your ship is blocked by terrain and unable to move, move your character a certain distance away and call the ship to your desired location.
※ Call Ship can be used when the distance between your character and the ship is between 0 and 80.

2. Hiring Sailors

When managing a ship you have crafted or upgraded, have you noticed the Manage Sailors option?
Previously, you may have set sail alone or with your Guild Members. Now, you can set sail with Sailors who will assist you throughout your voyage.

Sailors can board Epheria Sailboats, Epheria Frigates, and the new large ships. To hire a Sailor, you first need a Sailor Contract bearing the signature of Philaberto Falasi of Port Epheria.
Sailor Contracts can be issued by Falasi in Port Epheria or by the brokers to whom he has delegated this authority: Islin Bartali, the innkeeper of the Velia Inn; Proix, the owner of the Dancing Marlin Tavern; and Wharf Managers.

A Sailor Contract can be issued for 3,000,000 Silver. However, not every Sailor will accept your offer of employment.
If the Sailor you offer employment to refuses, the Sailor Contract immediately loses its effect and is destroyed. If the Sailor accepts, they will retain the contract until the contract period ends.
Sailors hired using a Sailor Contract will be hired with full Condition. Sailors hired through Main Quests will be hired with 20% of their maximum Condition restored to ensure smooth quest progression.

※ The number of Sailors that can board a ship varies depending on the ship’s available cabins and the number of cabins required by each Sailor.
※ Captain’s Medallions increase the maximum number of Sailors you can have.

Once you have hired Sailors, you can board them onto your ship through a Wharf Manager and set sail.

Sailors gain EXP by defeating sea monsters or bartering. Sailors aboard the ship share the EXP gained. The amount of EXP gained is as follows.

If more than 11 sailors are on board, the obtained EXP will be multiplied by 400% and then distributed equally among all the sailors.
For example, if there are 30 boarded sailors, the obtained EXP x 400% is equally distributed to the 30 sailors, each receiving approximately 13.3%.

First Mates
  • A total of 3 NPCs are prepared to board your ship as first mate.
[First Mate] Proix [First Mate] Cleia [First Mate] Tranan Underfoe
"Well, we've finally reached a sailing speed that I'm satisfied with."

- When hired, the first mate will be added to the Sailor List.
- Like regular sailors, if the first mate's condition deteriorates, they will fall ill and must be treated with an Elixir of Regeneration or Tears of the Star.
- If a first mate falls ill while on board, any of their active effects will not be applied.
- The first mate cannot be fired.

3. Sailors and Rations

When the ship runs low on Rations, its movement speed decreases and Ship Skills cannot be used.
If the ship’s Rations are completely depleted, the Sailors’ Condition may deteriorate, causing them to become sick.
Sailors can recover their Condition by consuming Chowder or Raisin Bread.
Sick Sailors can be treated with Elixir of Regeneration or Tears of the Star.
You can use food from your Inventory to provide Emergency Rations, and use Breezy Crystals or Origins of Wind to provide Emergency Cannonballs.

The Ration Supply costs for large ships are as follows.
Ration Supply Cost for 1,000,000 Food
Large Ship Ration Supply Cost
Bartali Sailboat 100,000 Silver
Galley (Guild Funds) 400,000 Silver

If a sailor’s condition reaches 0, they can get sick. While sick, any bonus that they apply to the ship will be deactivated, so it is imperative to keep them healthy. If a sailor does come down with sickness, there is no need to throw him off the ship in the middle of the Ross Sea. Luckily alchemists of Black Desert have developed the ‘Elixir of Regeneration’ which helps cure this sickness. Through simple alchemy, you can combine the following ingredients:
Item Materials
Elixir of Regeneration

Mandragora Essence x1 (Purchased with Crow Coins)

Essence of Magic Power x1
Oil of Regeneration x1
Troll Blood x2
Grape x4
Once crafted, this elixir is enough to cure the sailing sickness which may plague your low condition workers!

You can supply your ship with Rations using food in your Inventory without visiting a Wharf Manager.
Food Grade Emergency Rations Restored
White Grade 80
Green Grade 100
Blue Grade 240
Yellow Grade 4000
Orange Grade 22000
However, food used to recover Workers’ Stamina on land, such as Beer, and food that cannot be registered on the Central Market cannot be used to supply Emergency Rations.

In addition to Rations, you can also supply Cannonballs in an emergency.
If you have any of the following items in your Inventory, you can use the Emergency Cannonball Supply feature.
Item Emergency Cannonballs Supplied
Breezy Crystal 2
Origin of Wind 8
[Guild] Breezy Crystal 5

4. Ship Skills

You can fire the ship’s cannons on both the left and right sides using Volley Fire.
Cannonballs can be supplied at a Wharf, and each cannonball costs 10,000 Silver.
The ship’s damage taken increases by 10% each time it is destroyed. Once the damage reaches 100%, the ship can no longer be used.

Ship Skill Stamina Cost
Ram 10
PowerAccel 65
BreezySail 80

5. Bartering

Once you have learned the Ship Skills required for sailing the Great Ocean, it is time to set sail!

You can barter with Papu and Otter Barterers dispatched to each island, as well as sailors stranded in Margoria. If the required items are loaded onto your ship, they will be automatically exchanged and loaded.

Items in your character’s Inventory cannot be used for Bartering. If you wish to barter, make sure to load the required items onto your ship using the Load Cargo feature.

You can check which items can be used for Bartering and where Bartering takes place on the World Map.

The following barters can happen in island nodes in the ocean.
Tier 1 Barter Land Materials → Tier 1 Trade Goods
Tier 2 Barter Tier 1 Trade Goods → Tier 2 Trade Goods
Tier 3 Barter Tier 2 Trade Goods → Tier 3 Trade Goods
Tier 4 Barter Tier 3 Trade Goods → Tier 4 Trade Goods
Tier 5 Barter Tier 4 Trade Goods → Tier 5 Trade Goods
Tier 6 Barter Tier 5 Trade Goods → Tier 6 Trade Goods
Tier 7 Barter Tier 6 Trade Goods → Tier 7 Trade Goods
Other Land Goods → New Ship Materials and Enhancement Materials
Some barters will offer you materials that are needed for upgrading to better ships, or ship equipment enhancement materials.
Level 5 barter goods, and occasionally level 4 ones, can be exchanged for crow coins.
Level 3 barter goods and above can also be sold for silver. The higher the level of the trade good is, the higher the price will be.

The storage keepers from each territory became interested in bartering, and thus started to buy trade goods. You can sell Lv. 3–5 trade goods at the existing shops as well. You can only sell Lv. 5 trade goods at a town storage's currency exchange.
Level 1 trade goods (100 LT) N/A
Level 2 trade goods (400 LT) N/A
Level 3 trade goods (900 LT) 1 million silver (can be sold)
Level 4 trade goods (1,000 LT) 2 million silver (can be sold)
Level 5 trade goods (1,000 LT)

25 million silver (can be sold)

Level 6 trade goods (2,000 LT)

50 million silver (can be sold)

Level 7 trade goods (2,000 LT)

100 million silver (can be sold)

Epheria Galleon

The Epheria Galleon is a massive ship that can be obtained by accepting and completing a quest from Philaberto Falasi in Port Epheria using the Star of Epheria, which has a low chance of appearing during a Surprise Barter.

▲ Philaberto Falasi

Upon completing the quest, you can obtain the Ship Registration Certificate: Epheria Galleon and the 7-day [Title] Captain Epheria as rewards.

▲ Epheria Galleon

※ The Epheria Galleon can only be boarded and controlled while you have the [Title] Captain Epheria. If you do not have the title or it has expired, you can use all functions except boarding and controlling the ship.

  • The cost of repairs for an Epheria Galleon is 10 million Silver per 10% damage. (Damage increases upon remote collection or ship destruction.)
  • Like Epheria Carracks, Epheria Galleons need to be supplied upon initial registration.

6. Explore and Supply

● The ‘Anchor’ UI will activate when you approach a Papu or Otter Barterer on an island while you are on your ship.
- Anchor: Features available on the island are activated.
- Explore: You can send crew members to the island to explore it.
- Supply: You can send crew members to the island to gather food.
- Barter: You can propose a barter to a barterer.

- You can supply the rations you have on your ship with Supply, or find treasures with Explore.
- In order to Explore or Supply, you need to have at least 100,000 Rations loaded onto the ship.
- Explore and Supply share a 20 minute cooldown. If you use Explore on one island, you will be unable to use the supply function for 20 minutes.

● Explore can occasionally start automatically while sailing.
- This can only happen if you have at least 1 sailor on board.
- Rations Increase/Decrease, Ship HP Increase/ Decrease, Sailor Condition Recover/Decrease, Item Obtained/Quest Received
※ Unlike the Explore option on islands, rations will not be consumed.

7. Ocean Wind

Ocean Wind applies while sailing throughout the world of Black Desert.
Ocean Wind generally has little effect near land. However, its effects become stronger the farther you sail from the coast and inland areas.
When you board a ship, information about Ocean Wind will be displayed, allowing you to check its strength and direction.

You can also furl and unfurl your sails according to Ocean Wind. You are affected by Ocean Wind while your sails are unfurled, but not while they are furled.
Therefore, adjusting your sails according to Ocean Wind allows you to sail more quickly.
A 5-second cooldown applies when furling or unfurling your sails.

8. Oquilla’s Eye

Many say they have witnessed an enormous water sprout rising from the center of the island. The sheer power of the water is said to be enough to severely injure even the thickest-skinned Adventurers. Whenever this occurs, treasures that were buried deep in the waters are said to appear.

Scholars attempted to descend into the depths of Oquilla’s Eye to investigate the water spout, but they have been unable to reach the deeper areas due to the limitations of their equipment.
When a powerful water spout suddenly erupts from the center of Oquilla’s Eye for unknown reasons, anyone caught in the water may be severely injured, so caution is advised. However, this powerful water spout is said to cause treasure chests that have been sleeping in the deep sea to fall around the island, providing an opportunity to find treasure.

The water spout may kill your character, but there are no penalties for dying this way.
One Silver Key is required to open the treasure chests dropped by the water spout. The treasure chests disappear after 1 minute, so act quickly.

9. Eye of the Great Ocean, Khan

The Guild Boss Khan can be summoned at Oquilla’s Eye.

To summon Kahn, you must complete specific Guild Missions to collect five Kahn Summon Scroll Pieces.

Kahn Summon Scroll Pieces are not stored in a character’s Inventory or the Guild Storage. They can be viewed under the Guild’s Guild Boss Summon category.

Once you have collected all five Kahn Summon Scroll Pieces, the Adjust Difficulty, Find Location, and Summon UI options will become available, allowing you to find a summon location and summon Kahn.

① Adjust Difficulty: Adjust the difficulty to your desired level. This can only be set at a location where Kahn can be summoned.

② Find Location: Find a location where Kahn can be summoned.

③ Summon: Summon Kahn. This can only be used at a location where Kahn can be summoned.

To defeat <Eye of the Great Ocean> Kahn, the [Guild] Monsterbane Cannon Assembly Kit and [Guild] Monsterbane Cannonball are required. These items can be exchanged through a Guild Manager.
Old Moon Combat Seal [Guild] Monsterbane Assembly Kit x1
[Guild] Monsterbane Cannonball x10
Old Moon Life Seal

[Guild] Monsterbane Assembly Kit x1

[Guild] Monsterbane Cannonball x10

Alternatively, you can purchase the [Guild] Monsterbane Cannon Assembly Kit for 1,000,000 Silver and the [Guild] Monsterbane Cannonball for 100,000 Silver from the Guild Shop.

The [Guild] Monsterbane Cannon has two firing modes: Short-Range Fire and Long-Range Fire, each with the following characteristics.

Short-Range Fire

- Has a lower firing angle and shorter range.
- Deals more damage than Long-Range Fire when fired.
- The damage of the Overcharged Cannonball increases by up to three levels based on the stacks.

Long-Range Fire

- Has a longer range.
- Deals less damage than Short-Range Fire.
- The damage of the Overcharged Cannonball increases by up to two levels based on the stacks.

The [Guild] Monsterbane Cannon is destroyed 30 minutes after being installed or when attacked by Kahn. When the [Guild] Monsterbane Cannon is destroyed, all cannonballs loaded inside it disappear, so be careful.

Another difference between the [Guild] Monsterbane Cannon and regular cannons is that it allows you to use Overcharged Cannonball and Rapid Fire skills by spending points.

Normal Fire: Functions the same as firing a regular cannon. However, its reload time after firing is shorter than that of a regular cannon, and firing accumulates points.

Overcharged Fire: Takes longer to fire and reloads more slowly after firing than Normal Fire. However, it deals more damage than Normal Fire and can deal tremendous damage when used after building up stacks.

Attack Power Compared to Base Attack Power Approx. 3x Approx. 20x Approx. 30x Approx. 50x

You can also use stacks to activate Rapid Fire (activated by pressing O/B) with the cannon. In Rapid Fire mode, cannons will reload faster and fire faster than regular firing mode. While consuming stacks, Rapid fire will also rebuild your stacks back up, allowing you to combine rapid fire and overcharged shots to really put the hurt on Khan.

Stacks 0 Points 1 Points 2 Points 3 Points 4 Points
Number of Rapid Fire Shots N/A N/A 3 5 10

Once you understand how to obtain the Kahn Summon Scroll and use the equipment required to defeat Kahn, it is time to learn about the precautions and strategies for defeating Kahn.

First, when Kahn is summoned, not only members of the guild that summoned Kahn, but also regular Adventurers at Oquilla’s Eye may take damage.
In addition, Kahn’s lightning attack prioritizes the Adventurer who has dealt the most damage to Kahn, so be sure to keep this in mind.
During battle, Kahn summons Black Crystal Seaweed. If you do not defeat the Black Crystal Seaweed first, you may have difficulty defeating Kahn.

The Black Crystal Seaweed is protected by Protty monsters. When the Black Crystal Seaweed is destroyed, the Protty monsters disappear as well. Defeating the Black Crystal Seaweed allows you to obtain Black Crystal Cannonballs, which are more powerful than [Guild] Monsterbane Cannonballs. Using the Black Crystal Cannonballs effectively can make defeating Kahn somewhat easier.

Khan prepares to recover HP if the Black Crystal Seaweed is not defeated or if he loses a certain amount of HP. To prevent him from recovering HP, destroy the Black Crystal Seaweed or hit him with the Overcharged Cannon a certain number of times.

When Khan launches a powerful attack, a warning message will appear. At such times, use the surrounding terrain and structures to avoid as much of Khan’s attack as possible. There is no penalty for being defeated by Khan.

Have you finally succeeded in defeating Khan? If so, it’s time to swim to the center of Oquilla’s Eye and claim your loot.

When Khan is defeated, you can obtain items required to upgrade ships for exploring the Great Ocean, as well as rare items known as treasures of the Great Ocean.

In particular, defeating Khan allows you to obtain Khan’s Concentrated Magic. This material can be used to craft Khan’s Heart.
