This guard is my favorite NPC and at this exact spot is the reason why.

At the time, I was having a hard time in getting cooking EXP so I felt that I should invest in buying SE cooking clothes +3. If I remember correctly, it lasted me 2 weeks. Eventually, the demons got the better of me and I decided to make an attempt in creating a +4 with 16/17% chance, and it failed. I was feeling down since I wasn't making silver that much. I, then, decided to sell items at the central market and received my last 300 million in game and decided to gamble every silver in buying another +3 SE cooking clothes and made another attempt in creating a +4. I stood in front of him while on the third step of the stairs, with 18% chance, sweaty and at unease. I was on the edge and was closing my eyes.

When I opened them, I obtained my +4 SE cooking clothes! I was so happy and also on that day I got accepted into my first huge guild. These moments were shared with this NPC and I am thankful for it. He may not have a unique name but from that day I call him, Lucky Guy.
