A Pirate but starts at "Beginner" Sailing? A Mermaid but only has +20 seconds underwater breathing?
I mean, if you can make a Shai that starts at Professional 1 Gathering/Alchemy, why not make the Pirate/Mermaid Professional 1 for Sailing? You can't be called "Pirate" if you're a beginner at sailing.
Also, if this is a mermaid Class, you should realize that most of the mermaids( at least in fairy tales) can breathe infinitely underwater. I'm not asking you to do the same but just add more sense to this mermaid by increasing her underwater breathing.

Her otters did all the sailing before. She just sits in her ship captain's cabin and lets her otters do all the hard work. Hence the beginner 1 sailing.
