Guild Interviews - Revenant

GM Notes Dec 24, 2019, 15:00 (UTC+8)

Greetings Adventurers,

In our previous #GuildStories event, we asked our Adventurers for interesting and memorable stories with their guilds! We were amazed by the amount of support we received and want to thank everyone who participated in the event.

After a tough selection process, we picked the 5 best guild stories and interviewed the guilds that submitted them.

Today, we’re presenting the 2nd guild - Revenant, check out their story and interview below!

"Alas, Revenant has died!", laments the Chronicler as he attempts to make sense why the Great Merger had to happen.

He understood that power compels its bearer to seek glory in battles, be it honorable or not. But, he grieves the fact that the strongest of his people has left the guild to merge with another.

As he was lost in thought, he muttered, "An unfortunate event, but perhaps a necessity. For, there is no such thing as coincidence, but there is only the inevitable."

But, at that instant, a gust of wind swirled inside the windowless halls, and right before it settled he saw the old and worn book, most prized by the chroniclers before him - The Canticle of the Revenant.

Suddenly, his blood boiled and rushed to his head as he recalled the first few canticles written in the book, it says:

The Canticle of the Revenant

Revenant 1:1 And so, it came to pass that seeing his people struggle in the dark world, the All-Father who they call the Revenant of his people, sacrificed what was left of his dying flame and divided it amongst them.

Revenant 1:2 The people rejoiced as they saw prosperity and fortune abound. But, as the flame of the All-Father faded, so does the spirit of his people.

Revenant 1:3 They grew more and more weary on their journey. Every step grew heavier and heavier. They sense the darkness looming over their heads, waiting for the opportunity to devour them whole.

Revenant 1:4 The great warriors of the people succumbed to the darkness. As they consumed the All-Father's flame, truly they gained power and strength. But, as all are bound by the laws of nature, one cannot gain without sacrificing something in equal. The warriors have lost the very light that guided them to their destiny. Soon, the great warriors have lost their way and abandoned the All-Father.

Revenant 1:4 Those who practice the art of control and healing, as they prefer to marvel at the flame rather than to consume it for power, dearly holds onto their flames, struggling to keep it alight. But, as time pass they too began to feel the fading of the All-Father's light.

Revenant 1:5 As was foretold, by the sages of old and by the descendant of Edana:

"Pray to the winds. The Great Revenant shall fall. His flame shall fade. But true to his eternal nature, the he shall slumber in death beneath his ashes. And, from a single ember, his flame shall burn once more."

As the chronicler read Edana's prophecy, he found resolution within him.

"I shall stay and wait until the Great Revenant shall awaken. I shall slumber with my Father until the day he awakens and calls to his children once more."

Revenant

  1. 1. Please tell us the origins of your guild name and briefly introduce your guild

Originally, the person who formed our guild was Samael Bloodfallen. The guild's name was Seraphim back then. The guild was a strong node/siege war guild. Then, they decided to rename it to revenant. Eventually, our progenitor retired in real life and passed the GM to one of the war commanders. There were 6 war officers at that time. The new GM couldn't handle the diversity of the Guild, so he passed GM to Ciga. CIGA tried everything to revive the guild but the stress overwhelmed him. So, he ordered that all Revenant will Merge with the guild Requiem. But, few of us decided to stay and keep Revenant alive. My story was an embellished narration of when CIGA and most of the strong members decided to merge with Revenant. I mean Requiem. Yea, lol That's why I can't leave I'm fascinated by its history. Thanks! I'm just a recent member during CIGA's time, trying to Revive our Father the Revenant.

  1. 2. When was your guild created and what's its backstory?

I don't have the exact date. But our older members told me that Seraphim was created right after SEA was released. Samael Bloodfallen and his original members were already playing BDO Taiwan before SEA and they transferred to SEA and created Seraphim

  1. 3. Why did you apply for this event? Please tell our GM Note readers what story you used for your application~

When CIGA ordered the merge, I wrote the canticles as an embellished story of the merge. When I read that there was a Guild Story Event, I decided to submit the story I created. Did not really expect you would setup such event so, I was happy that I could share it.

  1. 4. What are Revenant's advantages and special characteristics?

As to special characteristics, Revenant has an old and fascinating history in BDO SEA, and currently we are trying to build a Revenant as a guild that hosts various guild events. Combat, Lifeskill, Sea Content, PVP, etc. As to advantages, we have maxed buffs, we offer weekly payouts, and we help new and returning player.

  1. 5. What content do your guild members usually enjoy?

For sea content, we enjoy bartering, SMH, Vell, Khan (soon), and we are hoping that there will be sea node war XD For land content, we enjoy doing GQs with newbie members, some go to arsha to enjoy pvp, boss hunts PVE questing, and occasional node wars.

  1. 6. What are the requirements to join your guild? Like what kind of person that would fit right into your guild!

We seek diversity to make the Guild enjoyable. So, we welcome players who socialize and are not extremely toxic. Toxicity is a good spice in the Guild, but too much ruins it. We also welcome players who are willing to contribute to the Guild in whatever form they can. Apart from those, no GS or other requirement.

  1. 7. Are there any benefits for new guild members or benefits for membership length/amount of activity?

Yes. Daily Salary will be doubled every time a member reaches 10K points, until the salary reaches 3-5M. Apart from that, all members will be given 1 tier for every 20K activity points they earn for the week. The tiers will determine the amount they receive as a bonus by the end of the week. Members may also earn tiers by turning over SMH loot and joining wars.

  1. 8. What is the most memorable thing from your guild activities?

Node war and Vell are the most memorable guild event we do. We all go to our discord voice channel during these events. And, talking random and stupid stuff with guild mates is a very good memory.

  1. 9. If there is a goal that Revenant is trying to accomplish, what is it?

To make a guild that hosts diverse guild events that most, if not all, players can enjoy, regardless or their playstyle. And, to keep Revenant alive until the last days of BDO SEA XD

  1. 10. Please give one last guild pitch/promotion and any final words you want to say.

Just this quote: "We die in order to live." LOL. if you want to know why that quote, its because a Revenant live only after death XD

※ The interview above was conducted through in-game chat and may have some differences from the actual contents of the chat log.

Once again, thank you to Revenant for taking your time to join us for an interview. We hope our Adventurers enjoyed their story and interview!

If Revenant seems like a guild for you, why not try reaching out and contacting them? You might find yourself a new guild and friends. :)

Also, don’t miss out on the next 3 interviews that we have in store~

Thank you!
