Hi fellow adventurers, today am sharing with everyone how do you get your very own horsey in black desert online. As we know, everyone loves horses! Your main traveling buddy will be your most loyal companion which will be your horsey mount accompanying you with your journeys in black desert online. So let's get started!
First off, the starter / default tier 1 horses can be obtain through any stable keeper NPC from most main towns at the cost of 15,000 silvers. For players who have trouble finding, It's under the shop option from stable keeper NPC, horse emblem: beginner's brown horse or horse emblem: beginner's grey horse.
After purchasing the emblem, go to the stable option this time round, and register your horse emblem that your purchased earlier and there you go, your very own horse! Yay! Where to find it? It's beside the horse market as shown in the screenshot below.
Why buy a tier 1 horse instead of getting a higher tier from stable market? Well here's a simple tip from me, tier 1 horses level up faster which helps you in leveling up your training lifeskill, that could be very useful later on when you are catching horses in the wild.
***You need to be at beginner level 5 in training to catch your own horse.
Catching your own horse
Okies now we have already obtained our horse, let's try to catch one from the wild this time round shall we? Before heading off to find any wild horses, there are few things you need.
Items needed for catching horse
1. Catching rope. (Purchase from stable keeper npc)
2. Lump of sugar. (Purchase from marketplace or Melt 10 raw sugar together with 1 mineral water) ***You can obtain raw sugar and mineral water from the cooking npc in major towns.
Now after obtaining the necessary items, let's go find some wild horses. There are quite afew spots in game where wild horses can be found, in this guide i will be choosing the wide open area in between toscani farm and marino farm, slightly located south west of velia town.
Wild horses comes in tier 1 to tier 4, you have to play a simple mini-game to catch them. Feed the wild horses with lump of sugar after getting close to them to increase the chance of catching. Personally i use around 5 lump of sugar every try.
After getting on the wild horse, travel to any stable keeper NPC with stable slot available and register your newly caught horse.
Breeding
Breeding horses will give you a chance to obtain a higher tier horse. You will need 1 Male and 1 female horse in order to breed. Level of the horses as well as the death count affects the result of the baby foal you will be getting. Lesser death counts and higher levels will be more ideal for better results in breeding a higher tier foal.
To start of breeding, register your male horse in the breeding market, there are 2 options to make your horse available for others to breed at a cost or pay silver to the stable guy to do private breeding. Choose private breeding.
Next, select the female horsey you wish to breed with your male, click once on the female horse to ensure the horse is selected, after which go to my horse under the breeding tab and select apply on the male horse you wish to breed her with.
All that's left is waiting time. Everyday you can only breed 1 pair of horses.
Leveling your horse
There are varies ways to level up your horse, your horses gain experience via travel distance, higher tier horses requires more experience to level up as compared to a lower tier. There are the few methods that can be used to level up your horses.
1. Use a merchant wagon (can be obtain through marketplace or craft) and connect 4 horses to it. Auto loop the wagon when you are AFK. This method is slightly slower since wagon dont move as fast as compared to training your horse but it allows you to train up to 4 horses at once.
2. Set auto loop before you AFK or go to bed, usually gains 10 levels when i woke up the next morning.
Well that's all for this simple horse guide, i wish this guide is helpful for new players or players who just started their horse breeding journey in black desert online!
